Tipton Eyeworks presents POLLUX, the first piece of Simon Hukaya’s solo project Optifold.
Tokyo-born designer and industrial designer Simon Hukaya has Japanese and Hungarian roots, and works as Tipton’s lead designer. The glasses dreamt up by him are worn by many music celebrities and film stars. He has won the Hungarian Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award for his work.
POLLUX is an eyewear frame based on a unique concept, folded from a special thin metal sheet. The result is a feather-light, yet sturdy piece that is both durable and eye-catching. POLLUX combines the sleekness of origami with a high-tech, neo-noir design.
During Budapest Design Week, visitors will not only be able to view the frames, but also to gain an insight into the design process. Prototypes, layouts and designs will be on display in the Tipton Eyeworks Showroom.
The week will conclude with the official launch event on 15 October at the same venue. (Admission is subject to registration.) The evening will be opened by trend researcher Adél Kovács, drinks will be supplied by Budapest’s only Mezcal bar, and MnemonicKiss ft. Novan will be providing the music.
