Accessible design and living
The discussion accompanying the exhibition "Encounters. On our paths: With you II" mainly
aims to shape attitudes in order to raise the profile of people with disabilities in our society. It
draws attention to the fact that design and technology can be a problem-solving tool that
enables our designers to create with an appropriate sensitivity as we cannot stress the
importance of a barrier-free environment enough.
The professional attitude of the panellists guarantees that the programme will represent the
theoretical, design and "user" perspectives alike.
During the one hour discussion, the roundtable participants will discuss the need for
designing accessible, fashionable clothing and modern-looking medical devices adapted to
individual needs, the user experience of prostheses and orthoses, as well as the challenges
of their availability. The panellists will also speak about the important role of the institution of
movement rehabilitation and about the paths to the Paralympics. The importance of an
inclusive approach that looks out for others will also be discussed in relation to the theme of
body ethos.
