A 2024. 10-20 October. The Budapest Design Week (BDW), which took place in Budapest between November and December, was again a very popular event this year. The nearly 130 creative industry programmes offered a varied and exciting pastime to the visitors, of which 109 were held in Budapest, 11 in Pécs and 7 in Sopron.
Design Week attracted more than 20,000 visitors, who not only had the opportunity to learn about the latest trends in design, but also to actively participate in the creative process. As well as celebrating design and the creative industries, the BDW also focused on the work of Hungarian creators, manufacturers and designers. Participants were able to interactively engage with the programmes, for example by making their own design products, making the event an inspiring, crafty and creative experience.
The professional programmes in Budapest included workshops, fairs, workshop visits, lectures, exhibitions, professional presentations, gastronomy and music events, book launches and auctions. A dedicated cruise and the EDIDA awards ceremony added to the repertoire.
Sopron Design Week featured two exhibitions, an open studio, a book launch and five gastro-design programmes, while DesignPécs organised four exhibitions, four workshops, a fashion show, a professional lecture and a film screening, combining educational and creative activities.
The Budapest Design Week and its flagship event, the 360 Design Budapest exhibition, were organised by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency in coordination with each other, reinforcing and complementing each other, contributing to the international recognition and continuous development of Hungarian design.
