Show Yourself at Budapest Design Week!

Budapest Design Week has been the most defining forum of the Hungarian design scene since 2004, uniting the creative industry’s finest for over two decades. BDW, which brings together a multitude of design events, serves as a meeting point for those interested in the creative industries, providing a thought-provoking environment for professionals and setting the direction for the future of Hungarian design year after year.

The central theme of the 2025 festival, Fluid Boundaries, draws attention to the expanding frontiers of design. The blurring of boundaries between materials, technology, media, and roles enables a new kind of creative thinking and design language. BDW provides an inspiring opportunity for this openness, experimentation, and professional dialogue.

The HFDA invites event proposals that meaningfully connect to this year’s festival theme and explore it in a relevant, innovative way. The selected events will take place as independent occasions as part of the BDW’s official programme. Applicants are responsible for organising, financing, and securing a venue for their events, while the HFDA provides unified nationwide communication and prominent visibility on its channels and online and offline platforms. Communication will also include a printed design map, which annually showcases creative venues in Budapest and partner cities within a cohesive visual system.

In 2024, Sopron Design Week joined the series for the ninth time, and DesignPécs also participated as a partner event for the tenth time. In 2025, BDW is expanding its reach nationwide, so the call for applications is open not only to creators and professionals in Budapest but also all across Hungary.
