BUDAPEST DESIGN WEEK 2025

A NATIONAL CELEBRATION OF CREATIVITY

8–19 OCTOBER 2025

22 years in the service of design

Since 2004, Budapest Design Week (BDW) has been the most prestigious event of the Hungarian design scene: it is a professional platform and an inspiring source of experience at once. Visitors can gain insight into the diverse and ever-evolving world of design and its related fields.

Design as a resource

Since 2024, the event has been organised by the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA), presenting exciting and educational programmes that highlight the cultural and economic significance of design. Our long-term goal is for BDW to grow into a regional, experience-based festival.

12 days, 175 experiences

Between 8 and 19 October, cities will be filled with creativity, fresh ideas and inspiring encounters. During these days, visitors can discover the works of Hungary’s most exciting design talents through exhibitions, showroom and gallery visits, professional talks, roundtable discussions, special shopping offers, and community events.

Beyond the capital – a nationwide programme

This year, alongside Budapest, nine cities – Debrecen, Győr, Kecskemét, Pécs, Sopron, Szentendre, Székesfehérvár, Tata and Veszprém – are joining Budapest Design Week. The regional events feature in the Local+ section, showcasing that the value of Hungarian design is present across the country.

A festival for everyone

BDW aims to offer programmes that appeal to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or profession. Whether it’s a professional seeking inspiration, a student visiting their first exhibition, a family eager to create, or a curious retiree, the festival ensures that the experience of design speaks to all. In this way, the diverse world of Hungarian design reaches every corner of the country – leaving its mark everywhere.

While the festival offers something for everyone, please check with the organisers, as some events require registration, a ticket, or an invitation.

FLUID BOUNDARIES
WHEN BOUNDARIES BLUR

The 2025 motto of Budapest Design Week puts the spotlight on crossing boundaries between materials, technologies, platforms, and the roles of manufacturers and designers.

What happens when creators step outside familiar frameworks, giving rise to hybrid objects and collective exhibitions, while the designers themselves become part of the events?

The meeting of artificial intelligence and craftsmanship, along with the free exchange between artistic disciplines, demonstrates that design today is not just about form but a way of thinking.

Fluid Boundaries invites you into a world beyond your comfort zone, encouraging experimentation, openness, and the shared shaping of our future.

HUNGARIAN FASHION & DESIGN AGENCY

FOR THE HUNGARIAN CREATIVE INDUSTRY

The Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency (HFDA) was established in 2018 with the mission of creating stable, long-term growth opportunities for all players in the domestic creative industries. Its strategic pillars – fostering local stability, promoting exports, and developing education and production – support the creation of a strong professional ecosystem and the development of the creative sector.

In addition to the Budapest Design Week, with its more than two decades of history, HFDA also organises the region’s leading fashion event, Budapest Central European Fashion Week, as well as the internationally award-winning 360 Design Budapest exhibition.

Moreover, it represents players in the Hungarian fashion, design, beauty, and gaming industries around the world, strengthening their international presence. It aims to showcase the value of Hungary’s creative industries, support brands in entering international markets, and enhance the profession’s prestige – building a bridge between tradition, innovation, and global opportunities.
