Design Week has started – explore all the programs!

2025.10.08.

The Budapest Design Week has begun, proving once again that creativity is not only present in Budapest, but all over the country. From 8 to 19 October, in ten cities and with nearly 200 events, BDW invites all those who love to discover how design shapes our everyday lives – be it objects, spaces or ideas.

The official opening event, held on 08.10.2025, was hosted by 360 Design Budapest in the Buda Castle District, and the flagship event of the programme series kicked off the design week among hundreds of contemporary objects. But Budapest Design Week is more than just a series of exhibitions, it is a vibrant, nationwide network of creatives building a bridge between tradition and the future.

Over the next 12 days, more than 100 collaborating organisations – galleries, educational institutions and design workshops – will work together to make design an accessible and inspiring experience for all. The programme includes more than 40 exhibitions, 40 workshops, nearly 60 performances and installations, and 20 professional talks to show how art, innovation and lifestyle intertwine.

Rural cities will have a special role this year:
In Sopron, Sopron Design Week, celebrating its tenth anniversary, will feature 11 programmes this year – focusing on designers and designers with ties to the city, who will show through their personal stories how contemporary work is born in the heart of a historic city.

Pécs is organising the 11th edition of DesignPécs, with more than 40 events highlighting the cooperation between the city’s cultural and economic actors. The programmes will highlight the fact that creativity in Pécs is not only an artistic force, but also a community-building one.

Debrecen joins the festival for the second time, this year with 6 creative programmes. Bringing together local universities, art centres and cultural institutions will give a new impetus to the city’s design scene – showing how creative thinking can become part of local identity.

In addition to these, Győr, Kecskemét, Szentendre, Balatonfüred, Tata and Veszprém will also be hosting their own events, making Hungary the design capital of the country this year.

If you can only choose one event this autumn, let it be this: ten cities, hundreds of creators, endless inspiration.
Find us in the participating cities by following the BDW banners, or explore the full programme online – and immerse yourself in the creative energy that connects the past and future of Hungarian design.
