Pop-up events on the streets of Budapest
2025.10.15.

Budapest Design Week also offers a number of pop-up events that transform well-known (or hidden) spots in the city for a short period of time. Organised by a diverse range of creators, brands and communities, the venues bring the dynamically changing world of contemporary design into the spaces, often creating exciting interdisciplinary connections – be it a fair, an installation, a show or a design experience in a cup of coffee.
On the evening of 8 October, the Creativist opened. POP-UP vol. 2, with the presence of artists and craftspeople working in various media. The exhibition and the accompanying mini-fair featured paintings by Rita Cserbik, playful ceramics by SOUTERRAIN ceramics, textiles by FANNER & CO. and abstract carpets by KAF. On 10 October, Hollóházi Porcelán’s Budapest showroom was also transformed for Design Week: during the Design First, Coffee Second event, guests were treated to a slow, deliberate coffee experience, crowned by the purchase of a limited edition porcelain cup. The next day, 11 October, the Budaro Designer’s Market returned to the cosy terrace of Tranzit by Flow: the event, organised by the Balka collective, saw young and established local designers showcase their latest ceramics, prints, jewellery, contemporary clothing and publications.
The event “Factory in Circularity”, which will take place from 13 to 17 October at the Tungsram factory, will explore the possibilities of circular urban development. The open-air installation and the closing mini-conference will be complemented by a guided walk to explore concrete examples of spatial revitalisation of industrial heritage. At the heart of the programme is the socially sensitive and environmentally conscious rethinking of the existing building stock – an event in partnership with the CityLab, which will become an important forum for the national architectural discourse. On the afternoon of 15 October, the Lucky Shepherd Designer Store will host a pop-up market for the Janka Arnoczy brand. Alongside pieces from the fresh mini collection, the designer will be on hand to talk in person about the brand’s relaunch, her inspirations and the thinking behind the objects.
On the last days of this year’s design festival, special design events will also be held. On the 16th, SustiKKrisztA’s new collection will be presented in the Cinke Studio, where visitors will be able to try on garments and meet the designer herself. Also on 16 October, Art Market Budapest will open its doors to the public for four days at its brand new venue in the Kerepesi út sports park. The region’s most important art fair will once again feature nearly 100 exhibitors from more than 20 countries, with Art Photo Budapest’s international photography section and sCULTURE outdoor sculpture park.
The series of pop-up events continues on 18 October. The LIZIPOT ceramics workshop’s weekend fair will offer lovers of wabi-sabi style stoneware a selection of unique, handmade pieces – with a new range of products, a stock sweep and outlet promotions for artisan ceramics fans. The first Secret Market Budapest event will also take place on the same day, with workshops, products from Hungarian and international designers and an inspiring community atmosphere in the marble hall of the Széchenyi Spa. The next day, on the 19th, the Picnic Cultural Centre will be the temporary home of HORA’s design pop-up show – a mini installation that will be an integral part of the gallery’s current contemporary exhibition.
