The 6th RUG ART FEST introduces a fresh initiative in 2025. In the spirit of fostering a living dialogue between different branches of applied arts and encouraging inspiring collaborations between designers, the MIX DESIGN DUO movement is being launched. This year’s exhibition centres on the encounter between the supple softness of textiles and the form-shaping power of ceramics. The designers of SZETT have invited ceramic artists as creative partners, presenting joint compositions that reflect on material qualities, unfolding in diverse forms and textures, and strengthening each other’s character. The thematic “islands” showcase a rich selection, where rugs, wall textiles, cushions and home fabrics appear alongside ceramic tableware, vases, decorative objects, sculptures and partition walls.
The festival’s vibrant programme is attuned to the creative dialogue between textile and ceramics, appealing both to design enthusiasts and to professionals in the field.
About the Organiser:
SZETT – The Centre of Contemporary Hungarian Rug Design
The Rug Designers’ Association, a non-profit organisation known by its abbreviated name SZETT, was founded in early 2017. Its mission is to strengthen the unique world of contemporary Hungarian rug design. They are dedicated to representing the diversity, beauty, and innovative achievements of rug design, while their repertoire also includes a range of home textile accessories, acoustic solutions and sustainable fabrics. Their studio has been operating in MaxCity since 2018, and in 2019, they established a workshop there where designers can work with a variety of techniques. From 2025, the studio’s front section has also become home to KAMARA, a dedicated exhibition space for temporary chamber exhibitions. SZETT takes pride in having been nominated in 2019 for the Design Management Award announced by the Hungarian Design Council. The jury praised and commended the association’s professional work and aspirations
