In the Challenge Area programme, visitors can encounter themes such as touch-based technologies, smart textiles, advanced knitting techniques, as well as music and dance education, health, well-being, and lifestyle. The presented development starts from the recognition that the brain processes tactile stimuli faster than sound or visual signals, which can make learning rhythm easier. Instead of hearing the rhythm, participants feel it – as if it were instinctively present in their body. KnitIT is a silent metronome, a smart wearable device made from advanced knitted material, which conveys rhythm through vibrations. It connects via Bluetooth to the rhythm trainer mobile app and can be worn in various ways: on the back, upper arm, ankle, waist, wrist, and other body parts. Using the device can contribute to improved performance, inclusive learning, maintaining mental freshness, supporting mental health, and stimulating brain function. The development team has been working for years on smart tools that support the education of children as well as music and dance practitioners.

About the Organiser:
Zsuzsa Megyesi co-founded the internationally recognised A+Z Design Studio together with Attila F. Kovács. In recent years, her interest has turned towards developing hybrid and smart device-based aids for dance and music education, drawing inspiration from her experience as an amateur flamenco dancer and Taiko drummer. She began her career as a curator of contemporary art exhibitions at Műcsarnok, and later worked for several years as an editor and in leadership roles at contemporary art, fashion, design, and architecture magazines, including Octogon, Design Room, and Stílus Magazin. Her first major project was the interior design of Werk Academy, in collaboration with Linda Boronkay. Since then, she has participated in numerous domestic and international exhibitions, including London Design Week, Berlin Design Week, Milan Design Week, Biennale Flamenco Amsterdam, Bi-Flamenco Ljubljana, and Ericsson Researchers’ Night.
