The exhibition Kaesz Homes at the Walter Rózsi Villa was inspired by the acquisition of an art collection comprising over 60 objects. During a subjective guided tour organised as part of Budapest Design Week, visitors can learn about the behind-the-scenes of museums and exhibition design, with explanations provided by professional museum curators while following the new life of everyday objects within the context of an exhibition. Further details are available on the villa’s website and social media channels.
The subjective guided tour will be led by co-curators Fanni Izabella Magyaróvári and Pál Ritoók.
The chief curator of the exhibition is Éva Horányi (Museum of Applied Arts).
About the Organiser:
The Walter Rózsi Villa was built for the opera singer Rózsi Walter and her family, designed by József Fischer and Eszter Pécsi. The building is Budapest’s only publicly accessible modernist villa and a unique example of modernist residential architecture in the city. Since May 2022, it has served as the first permanent exhibition space of the Hungarian Museum of Architecture and the Monument Protection Documentation Centre. The villa’s current exhibition, Kaesz Homes 1925–1960, offers insight into Hungarian applied arts of the 1930s, with a particular focus on outstanding furniture and graphic design. The exhibition was realised in collaboration with the Museum of Applied Arts.
