The Visible Scent – Multi-Sensory Creative Workshop

In Botanika Labor’s multisensory workshop, scents become visible, and colours become scented. Participants explore how we perceive scents, associating them with colours, shapes and textures. The workshop offers a multi-sensory experience where the boundaries of our senses blur. Participants first take part in a “blind” scent test, then they visually represent the feelings evoked by the chosen scent through colours and images. For example, lavender may appear purple-blue to some and green to others. After mapping individual scent-colour profiles, participants create their own scented candles based on their synesthetic experience. A variety of surprising forms and textures are available, including shells, glass spheres, porcelain cups, concrete pots and tin cans. At the end of the workshop, participants share their “scent visions,” tracing their unique journey from scent to colour to form. The programme demonstrates how our sensory boundaries can blur.

About the Organiser:
Anna Bárdics founded Botanika Labor in 2023, an inspiring workshop studio where scents and creativity meet. The studio mainly offers scented soy candle workshops where participants not only make candles but also embark on a unique, aromatic journey. She believes that the creative process goes beyond craft. Candle-making workshops are scented adventures, allowing participants to explore the world of scents, evoke memories, and transform them into colours and textures. Botanika Labor also hosts workshops beyond its own walls, including corporate events, festivals and external venues, bringing the creative power of scents to a wider audience. Her passion is to heighten people’s sensitivity to their own perception and to inspire the joy of creation.
