The Codes of Space – Site Visit

Location:

Budapest, 1116 Budapest, Gyapot utca 4.

Dates

2025.10.16 18:00 - 20:00

A unique example of 1960s industrial concrete architecture has been renovated according to the designs of the Minusplus architectural studio. During the 2023 refurbishment, the original structure was preserved while transforming the building into contemporary office and community spaces. The architects guide a site visit, presenting the interior design solutions as well as sustainability and community aspects. The renovated building houses the Kahan Foundation’s representative exhibition space, the Kahan Art Space Buda. In the second part of the programme, sculptor András Mohácsi and curator Tiffany Farkas lead visitors through the stone sculpture exhibition Vertical Silence. The programme aligns closely with Budapest Design Week 2025’s Fluid Boundaries theme, creating a dialogue that transcends the boundaries of industrial heritage, contemporary design, and sculpture.

About the Organiser:
During her life, Dr Éva Kahán, the namesake of Kahan Art Space Buda, valued fundamental democratic principles such as freedom, minority rights, access to education, and the freedom of artistic creation. The Dr Éva Kahán Foundation honours her legacy by supporting these values. The organisation provides university scholarships to socially disadvantaged young people and offers exhibition opportunities to contemporary, primarily Central European artists who address economic or social issues.
