Traditional Craft Techniques in Home Culture – Workshop Series

During the three-part workshop series, participants can become familiar with some techniques of traditional handmade textile production while creating small home accessories. Objects combining plywood and textiles evoke both the folk culture of the Carpathian Basin and the functionality of modern homes. During the group sessions, kitchen textiles are woven on rigid heddle looms under the guidance of Zsófia Szarka; participants can create wooden storage boxes combined with ribbon weaving under the guidance of Sára Dekleva and Orsolya Telekesné Szerényi, while Borbála Kocsis-Pintér introduces participants to the soumak knotting technique during the weaving of mood lamps.
The programme requires prior registration, and the fee includes all materials and necessary tools.

About the Organiser:
The workshops are organised by Spin ’n’ Fox, which specialises in the creation and teaching of unique and small-series weaving and spinning tools. In our Újlipótváros workshop community, advanced weavers and those interested in textile culture can acquire precisely crafted, durable tools and learn traditional craft techniques. Three creators are closely involved with the community: Zsófia Szarka, who makes kitchen textiles, scarves, and shawls from pure cotton and wool, and also works on crocheted and knitted clothing accessories; Sára Bozzay, a folk artist specialising in ribbon weaving, mainly producing jewellery and belts; and Borbála Kocsis-Pintér, the workshop leader, who is a teacher, rug weaver, and carving-and-weaving artisan, as well as a scholarship-winning artist of the Hungarian Academy of Arts.
